Chemistry 205 is a continuation of Chemistry 201. It deals with general strategies of organic synthesis: the construction of complex molecules in the laboratory. There are over 30 million known organic compounds and more are being created or discovered by chemists every day. The lecture portion of CHM 205 will explore the nature of the organic reactions chemists employ to design specific molecules. The laboratory component of this course will introduce students to organic synthesis, and the means by which chemists isolate and confirm the desired product.
